Amarillo Women’s Network Scholarship

American Petroleum Institute Scholarship Fund

 

Amount:        Varies depending upon annual scholarship fundraiser               

 

Requirements:

·         Graduating senior in the High Plains Chapter of API area

·         Minimum GPA of 2.5

·         Enrolled as a full time student

·         Pursue a degree directly related to the petroleum industry  (petroleum engineering, geology, geophysics, or mechanical engineering)

Amount:        tuition, fees, and books in addition to a monthly supplement for living expenses.

Requirements:

·        Must participate in a high school compensatory education program.  A compensatory education program is one that provides remedial assistance and support for students who have failed TAAS in their school career or who are at risk of dropping out of school.  Other programs given consideration are for migrant, Title I, Bilingual/ESL, and pregnant or parenting students.

Amount:       Five $500 scholarships for students taking college courses but not pursuing a degree.

Five $2,000 scholarships for students pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited college or university within Texas.  

Five $2000 scholarships for graduate students pursuing a graduate degree at an accredited college or university within Texas.

 

Requirements:

·        Reside in the 26 northern most counties of the Texas Panhandle (Region XVI)

·        Applicant must major in a technical field such as, but not limited to, science, math, and engineering

·        Must enroll as a full-time student

·        Minimum GPA of 2.50

·        The only criteria for this scholarship is that you attend one of the participating schools listed in the packet.

Included are numerous scholarships available only to African Americans, Hispanic Americans, and Native Americans.  The awards, requirements, and deadlines vary, so students are encouraged to come in to the counselor’s office and read through the various scholarships.  Applications can be downloaded from the individual websites.
